Dutch Percussionist Visits Factory

Arnold Marinissen, came all the way from Amsterdam and braved Mapquest's bad directions in able to visit the Grover factory. Arnold is a renowned percussionist who has 3 solo CDs to his credit. He was a member of the Hague Philharmonic and has been a guest artist with many performing ensembles throughout Europe. Arnold was impressed with the beautiful sonorities that our new Bronze-Pro Hammered triangle can produce. He has a masterful touch on triangle and creates a very lush triangle sound. After spending some time in the selection process, (his significant other was very patient), Arnold selected both a 6" and 8" model to take back to The Netherlands. Gauw tot ziens, Arnold!

Making Beautiful Music with YouTube

Percussionist Pat Chapman was recently selected from hunderds of applicants to play in the Youtube Symphony Orchestra. Pat is a junior percussion major at the University of South Carolina where he studies with Grover Endorser Scott Herring. Under the direction of Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas, the Youtube Symphony played a concert at famed Carnegie Hall. Pat reports that his Grover tambourine got a good workout during John Cage's "Aria with Renga" and his TR-6 Super-Overtone Triangle was used in "Tchaikovsky Sym #4".

MET OPERA'S GREG ZUBER VISITS FACTORY

Percussionist Gerg Zuber stopped by the factory today to check out some of our Bronze Pro Triangles. Greg played a number of our bronze beauties before he choose three (4", 8" & 9") to take home with him . We always enjoy having a percussionist of Greg's caliber visit the Grover factory!

Dave Danford Launches Solo Tour

Grover Pro Percussion endorser Dave Danford is preparing for a major solo recital tour which launches this autumn.The tour will be Dave’s biggest since his Rhythmic Renaissance Tour in 2007 which was to promote his solo album of the same name and included solo recital dates alongside guest soloist appearances with brass bands and wind orchestras. However this latest tour is entirely devoted to solo recital dates which Dave sees as a real chance to get back to what being a percussion soloist is all about: “Rather than concentrating on one particular style as a percussionist I’ve always endeavoured to perform in as wide a range of genres as possible. Not Just For "Classical" Percussionists!

Did you know that our tambourines are used by many musicians in the "pop" and "gospel" fields? Recently, English rocker Paul Weller was featured in an article in the New York Times. Weller is well known throughout Europe and is gathering a following here in the states. Guitarist Weller uses Grover tambourines throughout his high energy show. Like "Funk Brother" and Standing In The Shadows Of Motown star Jack Ashford, Weller insists on using the world's finest tambourines!
