Why We Use White Tambourine Heads

I've been asked the difference between white and so-called "translucent" tambourine heads. There is actually quite a big difference and our choice is deliberate and significant. All natural skins are processed to remove hair, fatty deposits and other organic matter. After processing, the heads are a translucent yellowish color. While we could just end the processing there, we take one extra step to help the head retain its tautness when mounted to our tambourine shell. All of our tambourine heads are pre-stretched in production so that the tension remains tight once its mounted to the frame. In the process, the stretching of the fibers turns the skin milky white. Laurence Reese Joins Artist Roster

Principal Timpanist of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Laurence Reese, has joined the Grover Pro roster of top performing artists. Larry is a graduate of The Juilliard School in New York and The Royal College of Music in London. He has performed in the US and abroad as principal timpanist with such ensembles as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, The Washington Chamber Symphony, The London Philharmonic Orchestra and The Hallé Orchestra. He has been principal timpanist of the NZSO since June 1998. Jean-François Lézé Joins Artist Roster

Born in France, Jean-Francois Leze studied the piano and percussion at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Músique in Lyon with François Dupin (soloist with the Orchestra of Paris), Georges van Gught (head of Les Percussions de Strasbourg) and Roger Muraro (international soloist). As an orchestral musician, he has performed with the Opera Orchestra of Lyon, the National Orchestra of Lyon and the National Orchestra of Montpelier, where he had the opportunity to work with Maestros such as Pierre Boulez, Kent Nagano, Sir Elliot Gardiner, among others. He also obtained a specialization in Chamber Music with the "Moscow Soloists" lead by Yuri Bashmet.
