We've just returned from the PASIC show in Austin, TX, where we had our biggest, most elaborate percussion display ever. In addition to all our Grover, SilverFox and Artist's Choice products, we also exhibited the full range of Premier concert, marching and pipeband products (Grover Pro is the US distributor). The one product that attracted the most attention was our new "Hybrid" model tambourine (T2/HS). Our goal was to create an instrument capable of speaking with resounding high level energy at the top and crisp articulation at the softest of soft dynamic levels. We achieved this by mounting our classic "German Silver" jingles on the top row of jingle slots and our newer "Heat-Treated Silver" jingles on the bottom row....
It all started in 1981, when I attending a small gathering of percussionists in Indianapolis. At that time I brought 24 triangles and 24 tambourines. My goal was to sell all my instruments over the three day event. Imagine how surprised I was when I sold-out in the first few hours!This will be our 26th year exhibiting at PASIC. Our new exhibit will be bigger and more interesting than ever. Grover Pro Percussion endorser Dave Danford is preparing for a major solo recital tour which launches this autumn.The tour will be Dave’s biggest since his Rhythmic Renaissance Tour in 2007 which was to promote his solo album of the same name and included solo recital dates alongside guest soloist appearances with brass bands and wind orchestras. Did you know that our tambourines are used by many musicians in the "pop" and "gospel" fields? Recently, English rocker Paul Weller was featured in an article in the New York Times. Weller is well known throughout Europe and is gathering a following here in the states. Guitarist Weller uses Grover tambourines throughout his high energy show. Like "Funk Brother" and Standing In The Shadows Of Motown star Jack Ashford, Weller insists on using the world's finest tambourines!
