Percussionist Pat Chapman was recently selected from hunderds of applicants to play in the Youtube Symphony Orchestra. Pat is a junior percussion major at the University of South Carolina where he studies with Grover Endorser Scott Herring.
Under the direction of Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas, the Youtube Symphony played a concert at famed Carnegie Hall. Pat reports that his Grover tambourine got a good workout during John Cage's "Aria with Renga" and his TR-6 Super-Overtone Triangle was used in "Tchaikovsky Sym #4".
We just returned from the Texas Music Educators Association Convention held each February in San Antonio, TX. Throughout the three day event our exhibit booth was crammed with music educators and percussionists wanting to see Grover products, play our instruments and who needed assistance picking out the right tambourine and triangle. (We managed to snap a booth photo before the crowds came in). Neil's presentation, "Percussion-musical instruments or weapons of mass destruction?" was given to a 300+ crowd. The educators really enjoyed Neil's personal style of presentation., especially his keen sense of humor! We've just returned from the giant NAMM show held every year in Anaheim, CA. The Namm show brings together manufacturers, distributors, retailers and artists from around the world for four days of business and music making.
