We received an impromptu visit from percussionist, conductor, music educator and Apple Genius Bar Specialist, Fai Fai Ho. Fai Fai is a graduate of the University of South Florida where he studied with Professor Bob McCormick. He currently plays, teaches music in an elementary school and works part time for Apple.
Fai Fai is an avid golfer and lives in the Tampa, Fl area (a good place to live if you like golf!)
Fai Fai, thanks for helping me understand my new iphone 5! - NG
Distilling the expertise gained through 30 years of triangle making, we've created our new Bronze Hammered Lite™ Triangles. BHL triangles are hand-shaped from a special 3/8-in diameter alloy. The proprietary alchemy of these highly resonant triangles is integral to the sonic properties and is a closely guarded secret. Each BHL triangle is hand-hammered in a randomized pattern, which enhances the production of primary and secondary harmonics. The tonal properties can best be described as resonant with a very wide array of audible harmonics. These instruments produce a lighter sonority than our Bronze Pro Hammered series, yet they retain the distinctive and complex harmonic spectrum for which our hammered triangles are renowned. Available in sizes sizes 4″ – 9″, our BHL...
Soloist, educator, and composer Casey Cangelosi is writing a percussion work incorporating many Grover Pro products. He recently sent us a short except of the piece that demonstrates our new anvils.
He wrote, "Man, the anvils are freaking A M A Z I N G, I love them. They're just gorgeous, feel great to play, and respond incredibly to different mallets."
Three current and former students from The Boston Conservatory Of Music stopped by to check out our new anvils and other Grover Pro products. The BoCo curriculum includes marimba studies with Nancy Zeltsman, percussion with Sam Solomon and timpani with John Grimes. While at the factory they received an unanticipated lesson on acoustics and the principles of sound production.
Only from Grover Pro: musical anvils created for professional percussionists! Unlike other anvils, ours are multi-tonal, capable of two distinct pitches plus a third "harmonic" sonority produced by striking on the center logo. A true Grover innovation, each Professional Musical Anvil comes with a sturdy hardwood mounting stand that is designed to allow the anvil to vibrate freely, resulting in maximum resonance. The wide 4-in playing surface facilitates execution of fast rhythmic passages. When played with our Dual-Tone Anvil Hammer, these instruments create metallic transients that can cut through any ensemble imaginable! They also sound great when played with a hard bell mallet, opening up the possibility of including these anvils in multi-percussion setups. While each model functions perfectly as...
