Going to the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic?
Be sure to catch Endorser Bill Shaltis at Midwest - Room W183 on 12.16.15, 12-1PM.
Bill will present an informative and highly useful clinic on timpani tuning. Tuning and tone production is a skill set that is very challenging for young timpanists to develop.
Bill is currently the Principal Timpanist of the Boise Philharmonic. He will be using his set of Grover Pro Chromatone Timpani Mallets - great mallets for young timpanists.
We sighted Grover endorser Patrick Bowen in a star-studded, Grammy-produced tribute show at the Wynn Las Vegas resort-casino, which aired last night on CBS.
Among the stars paying tribute to Frank Sinatra were Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Nick Jonas, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Adam Levine, Carrie Underwood, Usher and Lady Gaga
Pat is a multi-talented musician who is a member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and is Director of World Jazz Studies at the Las Vegas Academy Of The Arts.
Santa Fe Opera percussionist Gregg Koyle took time out of his visit to Boston and stopped by our shop. In addition to his work with the Santa Fe Opera, Gregg is the Principal Timpanist and Personnel Manager of the Sarasota Opera Orchestra. Gregg asked specifically to hear our wide range of tambourines; he was especially interested in our Bantamweight models. After testing one of our Hybrid Silver Bantamweight models we were unable to pry the instrument away from him! Thanks for visiting, Gregg!
Our friend and endorser Taku recently performed on percussion at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, for the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, honoring Eddie Murphy. He was in the house band alongside Shawn Pelton (SNL) on drums and Hagar Ben Ari (The Late Late Show with James Corden) on bass, backing up guests including Dave Chappelle, Arsenio Hall, George Lopez, Tracy Morgan, Trevor Noah, Jay Pharoah, Joe Piscopo, Kathy Griffin, Kevin Nealon, and Chris Rock. Taku also performed with soul legend Sam Moore and Brittany Howard of the Alabama Shakes. The show will air on PBS on Monday, November 23rd (9PM ET). Taku will also be performing on percussion in the house band for "Imagine: John Lennon 75th Birthday...
Today we were visited by Grover Pro Endorsing Artist Zack Morita who came to Boston with a group of his students. Zack is a leading music educator in Hawaii who has had groups perform at WGI and at the Hawaii State Capital. The students are all members of the Hawaii Youth Percussion Ensemble. They were treated to a factory tour, a snare drum presentation, some fresh New England apple cider, and also got an explanation of what makes our Super-Overtone triangles sound so good!
