Factory Visit

Today we were visited by top percussionists Carl "Butch" Small and Marcus Hunter, who were both in town performing with the legendary Motown artists the "Four Tops" and "The Temptations". These two dynamic musicians have years of experience recording and backing top artists like Whitney Houston, Dr. Dre, Mariah Carey, Eminem, Chris Brown and Michael Jackson just to name a few! While here they picked up triangles, SilverFox sticks and a new G2 Custom Snare Drum.

National Symphony Principal Percussionist Joins Roster

Eric Shin, the new Principal Percussionist of the National Symphony in Washington D.C. has just joined the impressive roster of Grover Pro endorsing artists! Previously, Erik was acting principal percussionist of the Detroit Symphony and principal percussionist of the Honolulu Symphony. He has also performed with the Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Ojai Music Festival, amongst many others. A recipient of The Cloyd Duff Scholarship, Mr. Shin received a bachelors degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Richard Weiner and Paul Yancich. Referring to one's brain, we have been told there is a direct correlation between mathematics and music. I would like to expand this finding to the similarities between that of a percussionist and personnel manager. I can hear the sighs now … but wait, educator and drummer Jay Burak once said “learning to drum can assist geometrical and mathematical thinking, as well as organizational skills”. Hurricane Sandy not withstanding, we will be exhibiting for the 30th consecutive year at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin Nov. 1st-3rd.
