St. Louis Symphony Principal Percussionist Visits Factory

Grover Endorser and St. Louis Symphony Principal Percussionist, Will James, visited our factory last Wednesday. Will came by to check out our new Bantamweight tambourines, musical anvils and other new Grover Pro products. While here Will gave us a sneek preview of his upcoming book, "Modern Concert Snare Drum Roll". It's a comprehensive volume focusing on rolls often referred to as "buzz", "press", "closed" and "orchestral" rolls. Will's book is scheduled be published by Gar Whaley's Meredith Music in 2014.

Our new Dual-Tone Anvil Mallet is designed for using on anvils and other metallophones. The solid brass beater surface produces a brilliant, metallic sonority - while the softer nylon side produces a warmer, softer tonality with less surface attack. The 8.5" tapered hardwood handle facilitates rapid and easy execution of difficult rhythmic passages. The dual-tone head is 2.5" in length, making it easy to flip when needed. Gwen Burgett Joins Artist Roster!

Gwendolyn Burgett is assistant professor of percussion at the Michigan State University College of Music. She began her musical career studying piano and violin at the age of two. As a percussionist, she has maintained a career as an active solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. Burgett has also performed numerous solo recitals throughout the United States and Japan, and has been a featured soloist with the Eastman Philharmonia and the Interlochen Philharmonic. Burgett was winner of the Keiko Abe Prize at the second World Marimba competition in Okaya, Japan, and the top prize winner at the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts’ ARTS competition. She was awarded the performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music and has also...
