Visitors from Hawaii Tour Factory

Today we were visited by Grover Pro Endorsing Artist Zack Morita who came to Boston with a group of his students.  Zack is a leading music educator in Hawaii who has had groups perform at WGI and at the Hawaii State Capital. The students are all members of the Hawaii Youth Percussion Ensemble. They were treated to a factory tour, a snare drum presentation, some fresh New England apple cider, and also got an explanation of what makes our Super-Overtone triangles sound so good!

Factory Visitors from MIT

MIT percussionist (and plasma scientist) Mark Chilenski and Dr. Fred Harris (conductor of the MIT Wind Ensemble) stopped by to talk to me about our Brass Tubular Triangle Beaters. They seemed interested, so I gave them a tour of the shop, taking time to let them hear our Musical Anvils and Variable Tension Castanets. They were very surprised to hear the story of how MIT was instrumental in the creation of the very first Grover Super-Overtone triangle! Mark is finishing his PhD at MIT and is an avid percussion enthusiast. Fred is a highly respected music educator, award-winning conductor, and author of Conducting With Feeling, published by our good friend Dr. Garwood Whaley. Cangelosi Joins James Madison Faculty

Grover artist, Casey Cangelosi, was just appointed Director of Percussion Studies at James Madison University.  The position, formerly held by another Grover endorser, Bill Rice, oversees a world recognized percussion education department. Casey, who has been teaching at Concord University, will be starting this coming fall semester. Learn more about Casey and his music HERE.
